Lake TAUPŌ BUSINESS START-UP GRANT 

Supporting new Tūwharetoa ventures on lake Taupō, its tributaries, or the Waikato awa

 

The Tūwharetoa Lake Taupō Business Start-Up Grant aims to support and encourage new business ventures, such as guided fishing and boat or water activities on Lake Taupō and  its tributaries, that explore and develop business opportunities on Lake Taupō. This grant is designed to foster innovation, economic growth, and sustainable development in the  region. The grant can be used to cover costs associated with business plan development.

  • $2,000 funding per successful applicant
  • Five grants are available annually
  • Simple application process.

Are you eligible?

You can apply if your business:

  • Is a brand new venture (existing businesses cannot apply)
  • Has at least one owner registered with Tūwharetoa Māori Trust Board
  • Will operate on Lake Taupō, its tributaries, or the Waikato Awa.

How to apply

Applications for this grant are accepted year-round, but only five grants will be awarded annually (July–June).

Completed application form

  1. Your business plan proposal
  2. All required supporting documents:
    • Relevant permits and licenses
    • Letters of support (where applicable).

Note: We can’t consider incomplete applications.

After you apply

Successful applicants will receive their $2,000 grant payment once approved.
