Exercising our democratic rights in Aotearoa

The Tūwharetoa Māori Trust Board encourages all Tūwharetoa uri to exercise their democratic rights.

One of these rights is the right to vote.

In order to exercise this right, you need to be correctly enrolled.

Voting is not compulsory, but being correctly enrolled means that should you decide to vote, your vote will counted correctly.

Here are the important dates you need to remember.

vital ELECTION dates

  • Writ Day is Sunday 10 September; any enrolments after this day will have their votes cast as a special vote
  • Advance voting begins on Monday, October 2
  • Advance voting ends on Friday 13 October
  • General Election Day is Saturday 14 October from 9am-7pm
