The Tūwharetoa Maori Trust Board is sponsoring the “Battle of the Mountains” film competition for primary and secondary school students, which forms part of the Taupō Winter Festival. The festival runs from 13 – 16 July 2017.
We’ve all heard the tale of how The Mighty Mountains fought for the hand of Pihanga in Tūwharetoa legend. Now, students from schools around the Central Plateau region have a chance to create a visual retelling of this story through film.
So, to all bidding film makers, here’s your chance to have a crack at making your first film, and if you win, having it shown during the Winter Festival together with a chance at winning the grand prize, a drone!
Films need to be between 5-8 minutes long, include a 30 second team introduction, including school and roles of team members (eg: director, editor).
The deadline for film delivery is 15 June 2017, unless organised prior with the organisers. Films may be delivered in any of the these formats: .mov, .mp4, .avi, and by a digital download to firstname.lastname@example.org using WeTransfer or Dropbox. A physical copy can also be delivered on a USB to Corbie Films, 7B Matipo Street, Taupō.
