Kia ora Ngāti Tūwharetoa whānau,
We would like to introduce our new tohu.
During a recent review of our organisational branding, we came to the realisation that it was necessary to modernise and refresh our historical tohu. In undertaking such an exercise, we were very clear that we needed to utilise the wisdom of our tupuna, to help guide our mahi into the future. This included ensuring that we continued to project a professional image in a digital age whilst adhering to the vision of our koroua.
To achieve this, we went back to the founding minutes of the Tūwharetoa Māori Trust Board, where we discovered in 1926, under the leadership of Paramount Chief, Hoani te Heuheu, Ngati Tūwharetoa resolved that the Board’s monogram include, quite simply, a picture of Mount Tongariro with Taupō Moana in the foreground.
With the assistance of designer, Lance Ngata, our new tohu has been borne – our wish was to return to the original moemoea or vision. We believe this has now been achieved.
Our new logo will feature on all of our official communications, branding and merchandise moving forward.
