PLEASE READ

This Tertiary Education Grant is designed to support and promote academic success for tribal members as the future leaders of their whānau, their marae and their iwi.


Criteria and details are as follows:

  1. Tertiary education grants support students enrolled in tertiary study.
  2. Tertiary education grants are available to registered members who reside in Aotearoa, New Zealand and who are studying an NZQA approved course at the following tertiary institutes:
    • University or Whare Wānanga
    • Polytechnic, Technical Institute or Community College
    • Apprenticeship training programme
  3. Tertiary education grants are available for full-time and part-time study.
  4. Applicants must provide confirmation of their enrolment, fees, course information and a copy of previous years academic results.
  5. Grants in consecutive years will depend on academic record. Applications must pass a minimum of 50% of the previous year's course to be eligible for a grant.
  6. You may only apply for ONE grant per year, regardless of whether you are undertaking concurrent study (e.g. NCEA and tertiary study) in the same year.
  7. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
  8. If an applicant withdraws from their course or subjects prior to or after receiving the grant, they must notify the Tūwharetoa Māori Trust Board. If this does not occur, an applicant may not be eligible for further grants.
  9. Upon graduation, all grant recipients must provide the Tūwharetoa Māori Trust Board with a copy of their qualification.
  10. Tūwharetoa Māori Trust Board has the sole discretion to accept or decline any application.
  11. Tūwharetoa Māori Trust Board reserves the right to use a successful applicant's name and other details for publicity and promotion purposes.
  12. Applications will be processed from February to March.
  13. Payments will be made in May.
