The Tūwharetoa Māori Trust Board is again pleased to announce the Tamariki Hī Ika kaupapa aimed at encouraging our tamariki into fishing and mahinga kai on Taupō Moana and in our many awa. As part of the kaupapa, we will be providing free season fishing licences to our tamariki who are 18 years of age and under on 1 July.
Also, in partnership with Fly and Gun Hunting and Fishing (Taupō), the Tūwharetoa Māori Trust Board will subsidise the cost for our tamariki (aged 8 to under 18 years old on 1st July) to purchase new fly fishing gear.

A complimentary child’s season fishing licence for Taupō Fishing District.
An option to purchase an Air Flow 9 foot, 8 weight fly rod with wide arbour reel, backing and floating fly line. A package normally worth $150 in store by a special deal for our tamariki for only $45.
Ngā Whakaritenga
To redeem a season fishing licence, tamariki must:
- Be aged under 18 years on 1 July of each season.
- Be registered with the Tūwharetoa Māori Trust Board.
- Be accompanied by a parent / guardian and present themselves to either the Tūrangi or Taupō office of the Tūwharetoa Māori Trust Board.
To redeem the “Tamariki Hii Ika” offer, tamariki must:
- Be aged over 8 years and under 18 years on 1st July.
- Be registered with the Tūwharetoa Māori Trust Board.
- Hold a current season fishing licence.
- Visit our Taupo or Turangi Trust Board office to receive discount voucher.
- Present themselves to Hunting and Fishing Taupo with their discount voucher and $45.
