Join Coastguard Turangi

Volunteer for Coastguard Turangi

First established as the ‘Turangi Marine Rescue Service’ in 1974 in 1980 it became Turangi Marine Rescue service.  Its final name change was in 1991 when it became a Coastguard Unit.

The volunteers from the Unit live in and around Turangi and are supported by employers and family who actively encourage their participation in Coastguard.

Based at Tokaanu Marina at the southern end of Lake Taupo allows a rapid response to “save life at sea” and aid vessels that require assistance anywhere on Lake Taupo, Lake Rotoaira and Lake Otamangakau.
